Terms of Service

Last updated July 30, 2026 · These terms apply when you buy a Site Sprint, Build Sprint, or Scoping Audit, or submit a brief.

Who you're dealing with

Plainsmith is a trade name of GutCall LLC, a Colorado limited liability company. Contracts, invoices, and payments run under GutCall LLC d/b/a Plainsmith. Contact: support@plainsmith.co.

Pricing, always

Every engagement is fixed-price and agreed in writing before work begins. There's no hourly billing. Scope is the written description attached to your order or statement of work; anything beyond it is quoted separately and never starts without your written OK.

Site Sprint — $10/month

  • What's included: a business website of up to five pages built from your brief, hosting, SSL, and up to two content-edit requests per month — sent from your account page, where the whole history stays in one place, or emailed to edits@plainsmith.co (changing text, hours, photos, prices — not redesigns or new pages, which we quote separately and cheaply).
  • The 48-hour clock starts when we open your completed brief on an active plan — brief plus first payment, in either order — and ends when your review link is live. Your site goes public after you approve it.
  • Term: month-to-month from day one — cancel anytime, effective at the end of the paid month, no cancellation fee. An optional annual price ($90 for twelve months) is available at checkout; annual plans renew each year unless you cancel, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid year.
  • Buyout: you may buy your site outright for $300 at any time. We deliver the complete site files and it's fully yours to host anywhere. You can keep us for hosting at $10/mo after buyout if you like.
  • Ownership: your domain and your content (text, images, logo) are yours from day one. The site design and code become yours on buyout; until then we license them to you for as long as you subscribe.
  • Email: free forwarding at your domain (e.g., info@yourdomain.com to your existing inbox) is included. Mailbox subscriptions (Google Workspace, Zoho, Microsoft 365) are accounts you own; we set the technical records for them at no charge.
  • Payments on your site: connect your own payment provider (Stripe, Square, PayPal, Venmo) and your customers pay you directly. Plainsmith never processes, holds, or takes a percentage of your customers' payments.
  • Cancellation: email support@plainsmith.co. No cancellation fees — one email ends it. We hand over your content and start any domain transfer within 7 days.

Domains

  • If we register a domain for you, you are the registrant (the owner of record). We bill it at exactly what the registry charges us — to the cent, no markup — at registration and each renewal, and we register only after that payment clears.
  • Transfers out are free, initiated within 7 days of your request, with no conditions — whether or not you're still a customer. One industry rule we can't waive: newly registered domains carry ICANN's standard 60-day transfer lock. During those first 60 days we can still point the domain anywhere you like and update your registrant details — only the registrar-to-registrar transfer itself has to wait.
  • Domain availability shown in our search tool is checked against public registry data in real time but is only final at registration.

Prebuilt Workflow Tools — $149 first, $49 each additional

  • What they are: prebuilt workflow tools from the catalog at plainsmith.co/tools/demos/ — missed-call text-back, quote follow-up, deposit booking, customer win-back, invoice nudging, review chasing, waitlist filling, weather rescheduling, on-my-way texts, crew day-sheets, season renewals, and session-pack tracking — configured to your business (your services, wording, and phone number). Your first tool is a fixed $149, which includes the number and carrier setup; each additional tool on the same number is $49, in any combination from the catalog. One Tools Care plan covers every tool on your number.
  • Texting compliance: going live requires carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) in your business's name. Approval typically takes days to three weeks and is the carriers' timeline, not ours — we start the paperwork the day you sign, and your tool is fully testable in the meantime. Carrier and phone-number fees (a few dollars a month, paid to Twilio directly) are yours at cost, like domains.
  • Tools Care ($19/mo) keeps it running: hosting, monitoring, compliance handling, and message-wording changes included — request changes anytime from your account page. Cancel anytime. Once your first tool's setup is paid, every additional tool is $49 flat, forever — your account remembers.
  • Ownership & handoff: the tool, the phone number, the texting account, and your customer data are yours from day one. If you leave, we export your data and hand over all access within 7 days, no conditions.

Build Sprints & Scoping Audits

  • Build Sprints are governed by a short statement of work (SOW) we both sign off on by email: the feature list, the fixed price, the payment schedule, and the number of revision rounds. The SOW controls if it differs from this page.
  • The $200 Scoping Audit delivers a workflow map, plus a written feature list with a fixed quote guaranteed for 30 days. The $200 is credited in full toward your build when you start within that window. If our honest recommendation is an off-the-shelf product instead of a build, the audit says so — the plan is yours either way.
  • Payment schedule: Build Sprints bill half at signing and half at delivery, unless the SOW states otherwise.
  • Mid-build ideas go on the Phase 2 list — the running list of things worth adding next. Each is quoted after delivery as its own small project, so new ideas never stall the sprint you already paid for.
  • Ownership: on full payment, the deliverables are yours. We keep the right to reuse our own general-purpose tooling, libraries, and know-how that aren't specific to your business.
  • Hosted Care ($39/mo, optional) keeps a delivered custom build running: hosting and monitoring, with small tweaks included. Cancel anytime; we hand over deployment access within 7 days.

Your content

You confirm you have the rights to the text, photos, and logos you give us, and that your business and site content are lawful. We may decline or remove content that isn't. We may show your finished site in our portfolio unless you ask us not to.

The honest legal paragraph

We stand behind the specific promises on this page. Beyond them, services are provided as-is; we don't guarantee sales results, lead volume, search rankings, or uninterrupted hosting. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential damages. These terms are governed by Colorado law. If we update this page, material changes take effect for you 30 days after we post them.

Privacy

How we handle your information is covered in our Privacy Policy — the short version: we collect what we need to build and support your site, and you can ask for a copy or deletion anytime. We never sell it.
